Vaults
Vaults
Vaults are secure containers in FamilyOFX for sensitive files (KYC, succession, or other). Access is controlled with share invites and optional passwords or approvals — not by emailing files in the clear.
Vault types
| Type | Typical use | If nobody replies in time |
|---|---|---|
| KYC | Identity and residency proofs | Request is denied automatically |
| Succession | Wills, keys, passwords | Request is approved automatically (silence counts as consent), unless someone denied earlier |
| Other | General secure files | Request is denied automatically |
Exact settings (owner approval, multi-party approvers, password) can still be changed per vault.
How an invite works
- Someone in the organisation shares the vault with your email.
- You receive an invite email with a link to open the vault invite.
- On that page you request access. You may need a password shared with you separately.
- If approvals are required, owners and/or listed approvers get decision emails with Approve and Deny buttons.
- When access is granted, return to the same invite link to open files (the session lasts about one hour).
Reopening the invite link resumes your existing request — you should not need to start a second request while one is still pending or unlocked.
Approval emails
If you received an email asking you to approve or deny vault access:
- The message names the vault type (KYC, Succession, or Other) and what happens if you do nothing.
- Use Approve … vault access or Deny … vault access — the buttons are signed links for that request only.
- Approving grants a time-limited unlock for the requester after all required conditions are met.
Unexpected email or something wrong?
Vault emails are only sent when an organisation shares a vault with your address or when your approval is required for a request.
If you did not request access, were not expecting an invite or approval email, or believe a request is mistaken:
- Do not approve access unless you recognise the vault and the requester.
- Contact support@familyofx.com and describe what you received (subject line and roughly when). We can help investigate.
